Back in the good old days carmakers used to give meaning to the concept of classy and stylish sports cars in the auto industry by offering the market the best sports cars that are now considered extremely iconic and standing at the very foundation of today`s automotive segment.
And from where I stand, the Porsche 930 Turbo of the 70s-80s was perhaps the most appreciated sports car, especially because of its evolutionary and aggressive design, denoting respect and consideration. And that despite the fact that it was extremely hard to drive on the roads.
This one seen here is a 1979`s edition, recently added to Bruce Canepa`s very own collection, and what is interesting about it is that it hasn’t been yet restored, which adds greater value, especially since it is also one of the only 1,200 Turbo models ever reaching the US shores.
The 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo has only 1,262 miles on-board, the model also looking in a pristine condition, even if it has had a long history ever since its arriving in the US.
Its very first owner was Ronald Tremper Jr. who drove it for just 265 miles, then sold it to Mopar leading expert Julian Steuer of Restorations by Julius. He then sold it to another Porsche collector with the original parts, and mostly importantly, with the original Pirelli tires.
As aforementioned, visually, the Porsche 930 Turbo looks gorgeous, but is not that fun to drive if you decided to take it on the track. But for a collector, this would be the perfect ride for a sunny autumn afternoon. Enjoy the photo gallery!
